Slank is an Indonesian rock band. It was founded in 1983 by some teenagers in a small street in Jakarta called Gang Potlot. They had played rock music everywhere until they got an opportunity to make an album.
Slank Music Group is one of the top band, which originated from the establishment of Cikini Stones Complex (CSC) in December 1983, which is a musical group comprised of high school kids college Cikini, Jakarta.
CSC consists of Bimo Setiawan Ben (drums), Boy (guitars), Kiki (guitars), Abi (bass), Uti (vocals), and Well Welly (vocals), which many express love of the Rolling Stones songs. Unfortunately, however, this group did not survive and disperse.
As the development time, Slank experienced personnel changes up to 14 times in 1996 that stood until now. Starting lineup from their seventh album, Slank, consisting of Bimbim (drums), Kaka (vocals), Ivanka (bass), Ridho (guitars), and Abdee (guitars).
Slank albums, among them : Suit-Suit....Hehehe (Gadis Sexy) (1990), Kampungan (1991), Piss (1993), Generasi Biru (1995), Minoritas (1996), Lagi Sedih (1996), Tujuh (1997), Mata Hati Reformasi (1998), 1999 (999), Virus (2001), Satu Satu (2003), Bajakan! (2003), Road to Peace (2004), Plur (2005), Slankisme (2006) and Slow But Sure (2007).
Meanwhile, the song Gosip Jalanan from the album PLUR, released in 2004 bear scrutiny from members of the House of Representatives. Slank who then become ambassadors for the anti-corruption Commission (KPK) is considered 'abusive' council through the verses of the song. House of Representatives through the Institute of Honorary Board plans to launch the demands on the young group, although later the plan was canceled.
In 2008 Slank has been touring the U.S. and Europe. They have also played in various Asian countries, such as Thailand, the Philippines, Japan and South Korea.
Slank Plans to Go International became visible in mid-2008. In collaboration with The Big Hip, a band from Japan, producing an album, THE BIG HIP. Amazingly in this album, Slank using three languages at once, Indonesia, Japan and the UK. For slanker, Slank will give a bonus in the form of VCDs Exclusive Slank activities in Japan when buying the latest album, cassette or CD of Slank.
Also this band was also active in supporting various social events. April 2010, Slank performing at Earth Live event, which brought the theme of environment. Slank called for efficient use of natural resources including water.
